One BIG advantage of the idler pulley is that it eliminates the captive belt and makes it an adjustable-tension belt.
Are you talking about installing the 1968-only idler pulley on a 1969 up big block? Actually, I like the 1968-only set-up better than the 69-74.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I have a 68 BB with A/C and the correct 68 pulley but am missing the lower attaching bolt. The repo's (long bolt) all look like they are for the 69 type pulley bracket that use that long bolt with that heavy duty sleeve. The 68 bracket conforms and butts up to the engine boss and would use a short bolt.
