First two NCRS meet dash plaques

While rummaging thru some "stuff" I came across these two that I hadn't seen in a long time. Since not too many of you have seen these I thought you might be interested. Somewhere, I believe I have a few photos of the first meet.

Wasn't that first meet in Wapakoneta, Ohio ???? Just right down the road from me. 20 miles.

Pretty cool items to see. I was a huge Corvette fan in 1974. Can't believe I missed that show when it was only 20 miles away. Oh yeah, I was only 9 !!

Tom, I was there, but I wasn't a member yet. I did become a member later that year. I have of course seen pictures of the meet and my car and myself are in them. Gosh it was great to be there. At that time as many here know, NCRS seemed to be circling around the '53-'55 cars and the club that they had been organized to was dying, so the NCRS was spreading it's wings and opening up to later cars than the '53-'55. But at this show, there were more Corvettes, than just the '53-'55. I remember a matching pair of '63's there. Well, going from memory, they were matching in options and color, but one was a coupe, the other a conv. It was awesome to me as I got to meet people I had talked to from Chevrolet. Joe Pike was there, Becky Bodner another GM celebrity, at least to me. Here I was, this 21 yr. old kid, and very Corvette hungry and restoration oriented, so I had letters of help on some of my projecst going back and forth to Chevrolet and Joe and Becky. I was totally unaware there were others as nutty as I was. The only other club for the Corvettes, that I was aware of, was the NCCC, and they were a rally and autocross club really, at least in my opinon. I remember trying to do something about the seat belts in my '62 and contacted Irving Air chute (sp?) and talking to the woman there about my seat belts and wanting to restore them. She said something to the affect about how interesting that was to be restoring a Corvette and hadn't heard of such a thing yet. How, the times have changed.

Nice pictures. I still like the old smaller dash plagues from the '70s instead of today plaques that are larger squares. They are too big!
