'67 Center Grill Support Screw in header bar

Hi, is the header bar tapped for a 1/4"x20 screw for the center support rod or does it use a self tapping screw?

    Thanks

Scott, you may want to double-check that screw size. In the 1967 AIM, if I have correctly identified the screw you are referencing, the screw is listed on UPC 11-13-B1, Item 3, GM #9419727. One of my parts catalogs contains an exploded view of the 1965 front grille, and it labels that screw this way: 8.977 SCREW (1/4-14 x 5/8) (Type BA)

I checked to see if maybe they changed the screw from 1965 to 1967, but they did not. In the 1965 AIM, that screw is also listed on UPC 11-13-B1, Item 1, GM #9419727.

Same screw, GM calls it 1/4-14 x 5/8. Mine was replaced with an incorrect screw LONG ago, so I can't check the original part. My notes say this screw should be black phosphate, but the screw on CC looks cad or zinc. I checked LIC, theirs appears to be black phos, but I'm not sure, it's not a very good photo (see LIC # 03-16A).
