    Another interesting twist

I started work today on the heater box from my brother's '62 and came across another interesting twist to the tale.
While cleaning up the inside of the heater box cover I discovered a date stamp of March of 1962. see pictures
Being a Nov of '61 build date car my interest was how a March of '62 heater box cover might have got into this car.
It seems to be the original heater box cover. Is the correct part number 3136467? That is also inside the cover.
I suppose it could have been replaced at some point.
Or maybe it came without a heater and one was added?
Any thoughts would be of interest to me.
    Thanks

The later date can perhaps be explained that the heater was added by the dealer when the car was eventually sold.

      Is the heater core dated?

Perhaps the heater was from the donner white vette that was used to fix the Pallet drop accident noted in your previous posts

It does have the stamp of 62C on the end of it. see picture.
That would match the cover if I am reading it correctly as March of 1962.

              Your tellin' me!

It was 1975 when the truck hit it and did the damage to the passengers side.
I would think that if they replaced the heater and all that goes with it the dates would be closer to '75 than '62. Just my thoughts....

              If only they could talk.....

If that area was repaired in 1975 they most likely installed a used heater assembly. Rich
