Two 1963 Corvette Coupes Selling at Estate Auction Today

Learn more about Estate Sale Find: Split-Window 1963 Corvette Projects on Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online.

Has anyone looked at these cars? If not rusted out in frame and cage and mostly complete, I think they will bring crazy money. 32-36K each is my guess. Throw out your value guides and resto costs claims. Doesn't matter at these auctions. All it takes is 2 bidders. Any guesses or info.? Wish I lived closer.
Certainly, someone here is going. Hopefully someone can give us some honest feedback on these cars.

The 1963 in primer has 1965-66 front panels with three vertical vents. If the interior pictures are representative of the cars as a whole, they look like expensive projects

The ad-copy reads: "How hard can it be to get a small block Chevy V8 to run and this car to drive? Barring major frame or rust issues it would seem that this car could be put on the road in some form without too much effort."

He should try it, and find out. He might learn a whole new appreciation for cost and effort when you start out just to fix a few things

I agree with you. That said, most likely there will be a zillion people at this auction pouring over these cars. Bidding will be brisk past 25K and whittle the true value price buyers out of these cars. 99.999% bidders are willing to pay the same price range, 15-25K. People will be amazed what a few are willing to pay for his own Barn car today. If the weather sucks, everyone will think maybe no-one will show up. Just the opposite happens. I still think 32-36K each. Any predictions?

Heard the gold one brought 35 with a bad frame and the other brought 28K. Wow.

In my opinion the cars brought more then they are worth.

The tan cars (gold) frame was gone and the trailing arms had been welded up with plates. The carb, intake and some other parts from the car cost the buyer another $500+. The original steel wheels sold to another buyer for around $200. The original Re block came with the car.

The primer car was claimed to be a fuel car and came with a RF block and no other FI parts. Now a Powerglide but came with a 4 speed and some other stuff. The car went to Richmond, KY. I'm sure it will be on Ebay shortly.

The 2 cars brought more then the 3 bedroom house which was on a 1 acre lot. To me the house was a better deal...

As you all know some buyers have no idea just what it costs to restore a 63 coupe. Very easy to sink 100K in one. JD

                      John,
I do not doubt your estimate at all. The best thing about both cars is that they had very nice rear window trim.
The saddle tan car will be restored and the gray primer fuelie should show up on Ebay any minute.

                        Bruce,

Do you happen to know the Body number from the Saddle Coupe?
Was the trans a BW or a Muncie?
The Saddle car #15,008 is right at the changeover date for transmissions in 1963.

I thought the Silver car was an automatic?
I haven't seen many 63's that got changed from 4spd to auto but rather the other way around.

                          Syd,

Had a 63 Silver Coupe with SN 14,4xx with the original wide ratio Muncie 300HP, PS. Hope that helps your research.

If the wheels really were 63 wheels, 200.00 would have made them the best buy of the day if you ask me !

                              Tom,
The wheels were the best buy of the day!

                              Syd,
The silver car (gray primer) was originally a 4 speed which was changed to a aluminum Powerglide. The 4 speed with a Hurst shifter went with the car as did the RF block. It looked like the nose of the car was replaced including the core support.
From what I understand the owners wife did not want a 4 speed. I do not know who the body manufacturer was.
The buyer was a Corvette "flipper" and the car should appear for sale on Ebay soon.
