For the 1-3/8" long bolts, "M" or "M in a circle" were among those used. My original 1969 small block had the "M". The bolts were trimmed head with 3 radial lines (SAE grade 5). Other manufacturer bolts were likely also used but all would have been trimmed head with 3 radial lines.

The longer bolts at the AIR pump bracket and engine lift bracket usually had different headmarkings.
