Am writing this to help people never quit chasing their dreams. I bought my 65 11 years ago and it came with more paperwork than I thought possible ( factory pick up car ) I did always wish I could talk to original owner to find out why factory pick-up? Tried for 3 years and got nowhere - then a friend of mine started to play around with Google, with-in a month found a woman who turned out to be the daughter of the original owner. Original owner was from Wisc., so in 2005 I took my car to Bloomington and his daughter drove her family (including Dad) to Bloomington to see me & the car. Had a great day with them, had not seen the car since he sold it in 1979. I asked if he had any photos of him picking up the car in St. Louis? His daughter said she would look through his old stuff for any - a month later I got a framed original order sheet from them - what I had thought to be the original turned out to be a special form for factory pick-up cars only.
Now with many members getting shipper sheets, I started reading with great interest tips on how to gain additional info. I thought it would be great if I could get some memorabilia from my ordering dealer even though they had closed long ago. I started making phone calls and writing letters, one day got a letter from a woman who supplied the names and address of 2 sons of the owners when my car was sold. I wrote both people with a reason for wanting any memorabilia, over a month later heard for one who said he had very little, but would ask his cousins if they had anything.
Came home yesterday to find 2 UPS boxes out front - one odd shaped box contained a yard stick they used to give out ( must be to check gas on vettes ) the other box contained a great assortment of stuff including newspaper ads from 1952 & 1974 complete with pictures of showrooms, etc. The 1952 ad had a picture taken in 1906 of the grandfathers original automobile and livery stable which started the whole history. I hope people will read this and not get down in the mouth - keep on turning over every rock - you can never tell what results might be under the next one. Good luck
