    Chicago Corvette Supply

Prior to my recent joining of NCRS, I had ordered a complete rebuilt 3.70 posi rear end unit from Al on Jan 31, 2011 - for my 66 car. I saw some rears for sale on Ebay under Gray Gracy. So I contacted him via e-mail, and he said they had exactly the parts that I needed. I did not realize this was CCS at the time.

Then, I joined NCRS a few weeks ago and started reading through the threads in the technical discussion, and realized there was some serious discussion about the "on time delivery" performance of this business.

I became concerned because the unit had not yet arrived as of Monday Feb 28, 2011, 4 weeks after the order. Of course, my card was charged on Jan 31.

I have made a few calls to Al during the last few weeks, checking on the status of the posi unit, he kept saying it was nearly ready. I was really nervous.....

I called yesterday, and he said it was ready to ship. I didnt really believe him.

Today it arrived, and I must say they did a super job. I have built many rears in my life and this one is really nice. I am totally happy with the work they completed, and the parts that were provided. From what I can tell, they did exactly what I asked for. Lets hope it doesnt make noise! 5 weeks total, to build and ship the complete posi unit.

My blood pressure is now back to normal.

I've purchased a correct starter core from him and a rebuilt carb as well. Both for a 63. On the carb we swapped units so I could get a correct date code. I used my old base and the rest of his carb to get exactly what I wanted. It did take a while to get my core charge back. I had to chase them for a while. BUT they do have inventory.

All and all I'm OK with my dealings too.

I'm still waiting for my repro carb tag that I paid for first week in January. I've emailed and called. Reply I got was they were having trouble with the post office losing stuff.

I was going to have a carb,. maybe 4 of them, rebuilt there but won't risk it.

        They send them out anyway.
Just cut out the middleman and go to the rebuilders.

I'm curious how much it cost for a complete rebuilt rear end, as I'm getting lots of noise in mine. Can you share what was charged and what was included?
