1962 Exhaust manifold date code 3797901

I am reading the JM section 12/page 61 where it talks about the Exhaust manifold dating and states:

Exhaust manifolds (except original 1962 3797901 and 902) normally contain casting dates (month & day only) on inboard cylinder head side and .........

Does this mean that 1962 manifolds do not have a date or have the month/day/year?

I am looking at my manifolds and all I see on the back side is:
3797901 = is 901 on one end and 901 over 942 on the other end

3797902 = is 902 on one end and 902 over 942 on the other end. There is also a 1 by it self between the back 2 ports.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Tony

If I remember correctly, date code emboss of these castings didn't start until sometime in the early '64 model year...

No date cast on my original 62 exh.manifolds but I found the following.

      Under the casting number 3797901
      L H 2

      Under the casting number 3797902
      R H 2

if i recall correctly, c-1 exhaust manifolds WITH date codes were manufactured in tonowanda for pass cars and the flint cast-manifolds for vettes and some pass cars of the era were lacking cast date codes.mike

Service replacement manifolds sold over the parts counter were dated. Assembly line 62 manifolds were not. Rich
