    100 Year Anniversary for Chevrolet

I hope someone tells me I'm wrong, but doesn't Chevrolet turn 100 years old this year?
Why aren't there some Limited Edition models, or at least distinguishing emblems/decals on the cars to commemorate?
Years ago, my wife and I were looking forward to buying a "100 Anniversary Chevrolet."
I know what a lot of you guys are going to say: Obama, Government Motors, and the corporation is now run by "non-car people.''
I hope there's another explanation, or that the "Anniversary Cars" are being introduced this spring.
I know that's not going to happen.
The problem is I was born 25 years too late.

        Ray,
I think Chevrolet was founded in 1911 but the first year they made a car was 1912.

You will see some special cars coming soon. Look for something special in a Corvette too.

I would imagine anything 'Corvette' for the 100th would be announced at the NCM bash in April when the 2012 models are introduced. My Collector's Guild diecast model catalog shows a '67 'Vette, '66 Chevelle, and others as '100th anniversary commemorative models' so you can be sure there will be some efforts to capitalize on the milestone with real cars as well. IMO, they have already maxed out the 'limited edition' versions of the C6 and another paint/wheel/tape stripe/embroidered headrest version will not be a huge sales success.

              Hello Dave;

Seen history over the years showing the 1911 through 1913 Chevrolet model. A luxury car. Also read somewhere else 1912 was the first production.

Interestingly, I think the Chevrolet brothers started in racing to gain credibility.

Agree with Walter. Nobody loves new Corvettes more than I do, but the 2010 sales figures speak for themselves....
I think the "limited edition" versions of the same body, have pretty much run into the ground.
My son works for a large auto group that owns several Dodge stores. The new "limited edition" innaugural 392 Hemi Challenger priced in high 40s..... are collecting dust on showroom floors waiting for buyers.
It would be a colossal investment for a Corvette body change, but that huge risk may be the only salvation to increase sales figures IMO. Kind of like Ferrari did with the California. They saw a 20% increase in sales over 2009, even in this recession.

2012 model year will definitely be the 100th anniversary. I attended a National Impala club event about ten years ago and looked over a gathering of 4 or five 50th anniversary package '62 Impalas. All painted metallic gold with gold interior. All were Super Sports with low horsepower 327s, automatic transmission, and power steering as I remember...
Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .
