Re: Painting a Corvette 1969 - 1973
I live in Central Florida and will be sending my '64 Coupe in for another paint job next week. I was given a quote of $11K with a warning that it could go higher once the old paint is media blasted off. Believe me, I'm prepared for it to go higher and I'm only talking about a car that I drive occassionally. The media blasting is $900, re-chroming the bumpers is $1K and replacing the grill, door handles and rocker panels only adds to the price. I'm confident that the shop doing the work is qualified because I have two other guys in my Corvette Club that had him paint their cars (one last year and another one seven years ago) and both cars still look great. As everyone else advised, shop around. I suspect there are more unqualified shops out there than there are qualified ones.
