    Mike, that's what we did with the 56-7 JM. IMHO '53 & maybe most of '54 were like the '57 AIM illustration with the flared ends pointing towards each other. Gary....

    Rear axle rebound straps are unpainted, and attached to frame kick-up with rivets, not nuts and bolts. Rebound strap rivets are normally installed pointing toward the front of the car. However, there may be variances since original cars have been noted with the flared side of the rivets pointing towards each other.

      Great info, Thanks everybody. I am about to install the rebound straps on my '62 and was wondering about compressing the springs. After having them re-arched, I am concerned that they may have too much arch. I won't know until the body is back on, fully assembled and driven a bit, I guess.
