Just a little tip when searching for a car on a message board. Post a picture of the car. A picture will help you locate the car faster than only the VIN. We, as enthusiasts know our cars by the VIN, but most owners never look at their VIN. If you are looking for a red car, a photo triggers more memories than just the VIN. Perhaps someone has seen the car at a show or cruise in. Maybe a friend knows somebody who has one, etc. Use the pictures guys. It will help !!

Not picking on you, Tim but this will help. Most of us know the VIN you posted is for a coupe, but some don't. Post it like this for example. ( Looking for black 63 Corvette split window coupe. Has red wheels and a giant NCRS logo on the door, last seen in Ohio in 2004. ) When you say split window coupe, that will also help non enthusiasts who see your post recall the car. Also the color and goofy details will eliminate some. Some folks don't know the difference between a 63 to a 67, that's where a good description helps. Be specific and use details. Just like when making a poster for a lost child. Details, details, details. You would be surprised how far some of these requests get. People copy and paste the post and send it out to car clubs and friends. I know I do. I am always trying to hook people and cars back together !

Again, I'm not pickin' on you, Tim. Just trying to use your post as an example.

Good luck Tim ! I hope you find the old car. I sent you my suggestion for locating it by PM

Saw a black SWC in for service two weeks ago, had lots of repop fasteners and many not OEM, had sat for about 7 years after the owner passsed and then the widow passed, with that did not run amd needed a new tank etc. Thanks to alcohol's love for water that NOS tank & sender were destroyed. Pretty sure its on auction this week.

                Tim,

Call Proteam and tell them you want it back. They will find it as they keep tabs on those cars. A friend of mine bought his 63 from them several years ago and he got an call from Proteam every year inquiring if he wanted to sell it back to them.

                He finally did....

                  Sounds like a beautiful car.
It must be one of the first with a Muncie.

                  Good luck again Tim!

i would also recommend giving proteam a call or email. terry was very helpful to me when i asked for the previuos owner of my 64. i was able to track the cars history back to '74. good luck. i hope you find your baby.
                        take care,

i would also try the c2 registry. maybe the current owner registered it.

                            Hi Fred,

From what I understand, Muncie's were first used right around vin 15,000.
I've spoken with several owners of cars in the very early 15,000 range and they confirmed the presence of Muncie trans in their cars but I think yours might be the earliest I've heard of.

Someone changed the transmission in my coupe #15,240 to a BW many years ago and I will eventually swap it for a Muncie so I've paid a little attention to verify that cars built before mine actually had Muncie's.
