When I decoded my Trim Tag it said it came with option BU. I can't find what that code means. Can anyone find out what that means?

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe ECL Decode
I found out what the option code BU stands for: Base Unit
Does that mean that it had no options from the factory? This was on the ECL Decode site after I plugged in the criteria. When I bought my 65 Coupe it was a frame off restoration with all matching numbers and dates yet had no paper work, such as the Protecto-plate, owner history or window sticker with options.
It is an early production, August 27, 1964, 110th car built in St Louis with a 327/300HP with 4-speed.- Top

Dean -- I'm a little confused. I have the NCRS '63-7 Trim Tags book in front of me and cannot find a '65 interior Trim code of "BU" listed. What did you use to "decode" your trim tag ? Better still, give us the info stamped on your tag and we will assist. Letter & digit in upper LH corner; STYLE, TRIM, BODY, and PAINT.
I'll guess that with your early VIN that the STYLE line shows "65_19467" (are we are talking about a convertible ?)- Top

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe ECL Decode
Not to be confused.....after putting in my Trim Code of 450 AA that is for the Blue and white interior. It is after that the ECL said it would have Option BC, which designates Base Car and under that stated it would not have the Options of Powerglide transmission, Big Tank, etc- Top

No, just means that the interior trim items that were affected by certain options. Eg: automatic needed a different center shifter console; likewise if it had power windows (console and door panels); and if big tank, the whole zone back of the seats was different, although (strangely) if the N03 car had black vinyl (STD) trim, or black leather 402AA, the codes were the same as for a coupe without the 36.5 gal tank.- Top
