Were other GM divisions operating while St. Louis was shut down with the strike in 1969? I had assumed (possibly incorrectly) that all of GM was affected by the strike.

The mid-1969 strikes were local, at eight different GM assembly plants; the rest of GM continued to operate.

On September 15, 1970 at midnight nagotiations between the the General and the UAW came to an impass. Every Plant in the US walked out. That strike lasted for 10 weeks.

Thank you. I had them backwards.

My fiancee's 71 convertible got caught in the 1970 strike. Her car was set for a mid-September assembly date. Time/Build ended up December 1.
