    69 L46 smog diverter valve

Seeking very good high resolution pictures of the appropriate diverter valve for the 350/350 engine. I am not successfully finding the correct diverter valve. I am on the lookout for this valve but bet I have more luck if I would know exactly what it looks like rather than trying to use a magnifying glass to look at a black and white photo in the guidebook.
According to the Bizzoco 69 Guidebook: "The small block uses diverter 7034481; this number is easily seen and carries a very tiny DJ logo enclosed by a circle below the right half of the casting number. On the hidden surface facing the vacuum line the excessive flattened letters RP appear with the same encircled DJ logo. Alongside this is the GM mark of excellence logo with Made in the USA below. The exposed circular surface of the diverter valve is stamped with the pick code GJ for assembly."
Thanks in advance! All help is appreciated!!!

More homework done. The 68-69 judging guide shows that all 69 350's should have valve with part number 7029199 with a code of GL. It also states that the early cars (mine March 13th) should have a bent wire spot-welded to the diaphragm can that holds the muffler. My confusion mounts.

Both 300 hp and L-46 did use the same diverter valve. The early valves did have a support "rod" (thick wire) spot welded from the front face of the muffler to the stamped steel valve cover. Attached are photos of an NOS 7029199 valve [not for sale]. This one does not have the support "rod" and does not have the broadcast code stamped on the valve.

The 7034481 part number mentioned in the book is absolutely NOT the part number of the valve assembly. It is the part number of only the outlet elbow fitting COMPONENT of the valve. The same fitting was used on several other valve assemblies and absolutely cannot be used to identify any particular valve assembly.

The attached photo shows GENERALLY how the support rod would have appeared on valves so-equipped.

Other photos show what the GM replacement valve, GM #17084024, for the application looked like. This one wouldn't get you many judging points but it would be 100% functional. Alas, it's no longer available, either.

Actually Joe, the support rod I have seen on 1968 and early 1969 diverter valves was a single piece bent into a V shape. The pictures you posted show about half of the support I would expect.

Yes, you're correct. It was a V-shaped piece, not a single, straight rod.

                    Hi Shannon
Here is the V shaped tang that is spot welded. Unfortunately these are very hard to find as it is for an early 69 dated application.
This one is not for a vette but like joe said some minor changes and it will work. I only had one correct 199 diverter with the V strap many years ago but it went as a whole set up.
The other picture is a 298 Big block Diverter also for a very early 69.

PM me if you need more info.
                    Thanks, Grant

JM states that on a 1972, the diverter valve broadcast code is on a round sticker versus the earlier stamp. Anyone know what color the sticker should be, or if anyone is reproducing these? thanks

The sticker on my 1970 was white with black letters. I believe 1972 would be the same.
