Re: emblem paint
Ryan, First step is to determine if they are the originals (assume we are talking about the front fender side flags)
The 63/64 used the 3827158 flags, pn on back side.
Later C2's & NOS used the 3872930 again on back side.
The later flags were dark red while the 3827158, originals were orange
If yours are in good shape send to Andy Cannizzo for a correct repaint. Even if they turn out to be 930's with a repaint there's no difference from the judging side.

Re: emblem paint
I have heard discussions between members restoring their original emblems saying that they would hand mix ....trial & error style, Testor's plastic model paint. The model paint that is available at most hobby stores in tiny bottles.
I would say one would only need to buy a couple reds (dark and lighter), and possibly some orange and start mixing. Paint some test swatches and compare to the original (cleaned) emblem paint.

Re: emblem paint
Interesting. I painted the speaker grille emblem for my 57 in Testors red and blue, as they were faded and worn off in spots. I have to say it looks really good, but I wondered when I did it if the Testor's paint was UV stable.
I was not going to say a word about it for fear that I would be classified as a 'Bubba'. But after hearing this, maybe not. Does anyone have experience with this hobby paint? -Dan-- Top

Re: emblem paint
You may be seeing that "semi-gloss" look due to a little oxidation on an original 45+ year old emblem.
I have some NOS emblems in boxes, and I would say the paint is closer to gloss. I think gloss may just work for you. Maybe someone else who has tried painting emblems will comment on their results.

Through trial and error, mixing the Testors Red with the Testors yellow, I came up with an acceptable shade of the "orangey-red" for the emblem.
I've never seen various shades of Testors brand red.....just "RED".You can pick up individual bottles at a hobby shop, or you can buy those pre-packaged 10 or 12 packs of various colors for a few $$$.

Re: emblem paint
Ryan, here's a couple of threads that might help. In the first one, Jerry Fuccillo is doing some experimenting. However, remember that you reds are more orange.
