    1982 Cruise Control Issue

My recently resurrected 82 (35,000 miles) has displayed an interesting problem when you set the cruise control. Once set, it very slowly continues to accelerate. Not something that is immediately attention-getting, but once you're paying attention to it, it's obvious. Set it at 60, and watched it slowly creep to 80 in 5 minutes or so. Even going downhill you can feel a slight acceleration.

Any ideas? Vacuum leak? Transducer? Servo? Any adjustments rather than replace parts?

    Thanks,

    Dennis Fisher

Interesting problem Dennis. I'll give your post a bump, someone should be able to offer suggestions.

My mind is a little foggy, but there is an adjustment to take care of that problem. I believe the adjustment screw is in the vacuum connection from the engine. It should have a slotted screw in there. I do not remember which way you need to turn it, but I do not think that it take much either way to make quite a bit of change

Thanks, we'll take a look at that.

Dennis vac. port C on transducer is where the adjustment is. But make a few other checks first, vaccum hoses and make sure the speeo. needle is not jumping around, possible binding cable or kinked.these will cause problems with speed fluctuations.
