    Dry cell R-59 Battery

Does anyone know the estimated life of a dry cell battery? I purchased this battery from New Castle Battery in early 2006. I have a disconnect and use it when the car is not used. I have not hooked it up to a tender. No electrical problems with car as it runs/cranks fine. I bought this so I did not have acid on a fresh restoration. I am just wondering if I need to look at a new battery,as they are a little costly. I have a spare Blue top optima for a boat as a spare. I would like to start using the car this summer, and I'm not after any more awards with it..........P....

The reproduction R-59 batteries where you add acid typically lasted about 3 years. Not certain these are made/sold anymore. The gel-cell R-59 reproduction batteries seem to last around 5-6 years.

      Larry,

What do you base the 5-6 year life estimate on? My battery is going on 5 years and has been in the car stored in winters inside a heated garage with battery tender. Starts easily for the past 5 years.
