    Caswell GM Proving

Does anyone have an knowledge of testing done on Corvettes in 1967 at Caswell GM Proving ? Any information would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

I'm familiar with Milford and Mesa. What's Caswell?

      Duke:

I'm looking at a 1967 Corvette Order Copy (Tank Sheet), which lists the Zone # as 00 and the Dealer as 500. My understanding is this designation indicates the car was built for internal GM use. At the bottom of the sheet it's written Caswell-GM Proving GRD. I think it may be referring to the Mesa Proving Ground; but, I'm not sure. Could Caswell be the name of the individual to receive the car ? Just dont' know. Hoping someone on the TDB might offer some insight into this designation.

      Thanks,
      Mark

My "information" (perhaps a grandiose label) is that the DPG was 502, but perhaps that was a later-than-1967 designation. I'd start looking for GM Engineering retirees named Caswell.

There were at least 3 possible Caswell's at the Milford Proving Grounds in the 60's, Clare Caswell, (I am told he was a director at Chevrolet), Norty Caswell, at the Emissions lab in the 70's, I believe he still lives in Milford, and Jim Caswell. I think you can find Norty in whitepages .
