68 Carb dates v.s. build date & restamping

I have a '68 convertible G13 build date. I have started searching for some key parts, would rather use vintage materials than new but there are some good reproductions out there. Question:

What would the correct time horizon be for the (3) Holley carbs, and the Winters intake for that matter, for my build date? Since these are non-GM parts, is there a generally accepted rule of thumb for how many months before build date are acceptable? If the (3) Holley carbs are all in the ballpark but vary from one-another by a month or two does that matter?

Second, on Re-Stamping: what is the prevailing thought on date re-stamps? In this context there is a San Diego company advertising the whole 3x2 setup reproduction/rebuild and re-stamp whatever date you want on there.

My car is a driver - but I still want it to be a quality restoration and stay as true as I can to proper original configuration, dates, etc. Thanks for your help.

Gary, on my F22 (January 1968 built car) the block was stamped T0111IM which is January 11, 1968. The carbs are stamped 7A1 for the two end ones and 7A4 for the center one. 1st week in November of 1967 for the end ones and 4th week in November for the center one.

      Gary -

It doesn't matter whether the components are GM-manufactured or not; if they're dated, they need to fall inside the six-month window prior to the car's final assembly date allowed (with several obscure exceptions) as noted in the "Corvette Judging Reference Manual". 2-6 weeks prior is more "typical", and will invite less scrutiny of other components.

Six months is the limit - two months or less is better; thank you.

          Hi Gary,
It sounds like you're enjoying having your dad's old car!
From my very ordinary 71 Coupe I learned that by far most dated parts fall as John indicated.
You may find an odd ball on occasion. Many of the dates for my mid-January 1971 built car fall in the last 2 weeks of December and the first 2 weeks of January. The intake manifold however is dated August 27, 1970. With-in the generally accepted period but the earliest date on the car I've found.l
