    Numbers 1990 C4

    Hi,
Does anyone know these numbers? The numbers are on the front site of the cilinderhead on both sides.

    Btw,
I happen to find two original buildsheets, couldn`t get them out right so now it`s a buildsheet puzzle

    Thanks

As Dave mentioned above, you can easily order a copy of the original build sheet for your car from the Corvette Museum. The build sheet and the window sticker are available through the MCM for ALL C4 Corvettes.

With regard to not having seen original build sheets before ?????
A copy of the build sheet was placed over the fuel tank at the factory. You can frequently see the build sheet if you look up at the front of the tank just past the spare tire storage bin. Mine is clearly visible. I have tried to pull it out, but it is too fragile and easily torn so there it stays. I can post a photo of it if you are interested.

On some C4's the tank build sheet can be seen and possibly retrieved by removing the fuel filler door and the surrounding rubber boot. This will give you decent visibility to the top of the tank, particularily with a mechanic's mirror.

Yup. The sheet on my 96's tank is easily visible and in great shape. I removed the license plate holder, and with the aid of a mirror I could read almost all of it.

          Hi,
I have a copy of the buildsheet, there`s no buildsheet on the gastank looked there before.
I`ve found the buildsheet in a small gap of the" Frame, drivetrain and frontsuspension"

According to, Page 10-3-2, chapter underbody, in the 1990 servicemanual.

When the puzzle is ready i`ll post some pictures here

What is the assembly date on the engine stamp pad?

            Thanks,

Gentlemen/Ladies- Here is the location of a build sheet on the gas tank. Thankfully these are not my Corvettes.
Also attached is my original build sheet that I was able to get off the gas tank of my 1995 LT1. It is held on by the gas tank strap and no glue. I wasn't going to loosen or remove the strap since I had already gotten a copy from the NCM.

Dave here are some answers i hope...
Picture # 1 = left cilinderhead with face towards passenger seat. I removed the mounting bracket with compressor AC pump witch was attaged to the cilinderhead.

Picture # 2 = right cilinderhead with face towards driver seat. I removed the mounting bracket with the A.I.R. pump and generator.
These parts have been removed, as far as i know the cars history, the cilinderheads have`t been removed.

                  Thanks

                    Jaap,

I currently own two 1990 Corvettes, both McLellans and one Crossed Flags recipients. Dave Perry, in my opinion, has hit the nail on the head (no pun intended). The numbers illustrated on your cylinder head photo certainly appear to be julian dates and are absolutely consistent with the numbers on the cylinder heads of both my cars. These numbers on my cars are visible on the rear of the drivers side head and the front of the passenger side head.

My crossed flags car vin: 1G1YY3383L5110247 was built in February 1990.
The engine stamp is V0207ZSC properly indicating a Feb assembly at Flint for an auto trans car with oil coller. My cylinder heads bear the following number 02001 which I would translate as the 20th day 1990 shift 1.

My other McLellan with 16k original miles vin: 1G1YY3382L5120137 was built in July of 1990. The engine stamp pad V0712ZSB properly indicating a Flint assembly in July for a manual transmission car and oil cooler. My head stampings are 19101 which I interpret as the 191st day of 1990 shift 1.

Good work Dave, my numbers seem to support your supposition. We should sample more L98 engines from the era and if the information remains consistent (as I suspect it will) we should recommend to Tom that the juding manual be amended to reflect the info. We should do it soon as I know Tom is updating the manuals as this is written.

                      Dave,

At casual glance it's easy to miss them. The rear of the driver's side head is almost completely obscured by the standoff and the four plug wires that pass closely behind the head. I used a dental mirror and snuck it between the wires and the head. I just got lucky with lighting and the mirror angle.

The front stamping on both my cars was directly behind the AC compressor mount limiting mirror access to a large degree. Persistance and a good back, however revealed the stamping.

This is good stuff. We will continue to check these dates. It is amazing we have not picked this up before but we learn as we see more cars. Dave P is right the bulk of cars judged in 90 and 91 have been ZR1s. Keep this kind of findings coming. Thanks to all.

                          Hi Tom,
I have several more numbers of the my car, some time ago i took the interier out and made pictuers of all numbers that i`ve found. On some parts there were signatures made with a white marker. With interieur i mean seats, carpets safety belts.
