Help with lower w/s moulding install...'66 convertible

This subject most likely has been discussed a zillion times but here's my scenerio. With new lower clips installed have tried to install the lower trim moulding on my '66 convertible. Of the approximatly 9 clips that retain the moulding there are 3 to 4 clips I can't get slid past the "first" click. Moulding comes to abrupt halt like it comes into contact with ? Please don't suggest a mallet....done that. I'm now smoothing out a dent . Any thoughts out there what the difficulty in getting moulding to slide in might be? What could be holding it back? Thanks in advance.

    Michael,

do you have a winshield trim removal tool? If so as you are going to install the trim use the removal too to slightly pry open the clip as you gently tap the trim in place. Be very careful as you do this as you need to make sure there is enough space between the clip and the rubber weatherstripping on the windshield if it is to close you could crack the glass.
