    69 BB Heater hoses

I have 69 427 with A/C. I purchased some new heater hoses and they have the molded end that fits into the heater core. On the 5/8" hose there is a 90 degree molded end for the heater. At the other end there appears to be a 45 degree molded end. The ones I pulled out did not have the 45 degree molded end. Can someone tell me if this goes into the manifold or the into the heater control valve? Also, any guidance on where to cut the hoses as they are longer then what I pulled out.

I went through this a year ago and got very frustrated. There are no after market hoses that I could find that fit / looked the way they should. I ended up paying big bucks from Doc Rebuild for NOS hoses with ribs. By now they might have some grooved hoses that would simulate the correct ones but at a much better price. Operating form memory the smaller hose with a molded 45 degree does go to the manifold.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. Any thoughts on where to cut since it is one piece? Appreciate the help.

Been waiting to see if somebody else could give you a more informed answer. I went thru this not too long ago. I bought a 5/8" GM part # hose with the same 45 and 90 molded ends. Decided the 90 should go on the manifold fitting...fits better over the valve cover. Cut the other end off to fit. My car is non A/C but I don't see where the heater box fittings need anything other than the hose cut to length, after routing thru the fender and firewall clamps. The 3/4" hose from the water pump to the expansion tank, and from the expansion tank to the heater box, has straight ends. Are your heater box fittings straight or do they require a hose with a molded angle end? Hope this helps.

I just talked to Debbie at Dr Rebuild and they are not going to carry the molded and ribbed 68 BB with A/C heater hoses any more, actually no 68 BB with A/C heater hoses. Did the origional hoses have the ribs on the A/C hoses? I am doing all new hoses now so I got a set of her last non- ribbed but molded BB A/C heater hoses. Mark Donnally, if you are reading this, I think you said these smooth ones with the GM were O.K., if you just removed the GM stamping. Also on the clamps, the JM, (p 60), says the same heater and AIR 5/8th hoses used the same 1 & 1/16th tower clamps. I saw another thread (Terry Fiala, June 3rd 2005) that said his AIR clamps were 1 & 1/8th. as are my AIR clamps the 1 & 18th, which I bought from Bill Hodel, the AIR guru. Not a bunch of difference between them. I tried to call Bill but his old number is not in service.
