66 Big Block right inner fender holes / dimples for hood support

Does anyone know if the passenger inner front fender on a 1966 Big Block would have had dimples or holes for the hood support. My 1966 427/425 has the hood support on the drivers side, yet I do see very faint dimples on the passenger side where the hood support holes would be drilled to mount the bracket if the car was a base engine. My question is, were these inner skirt pannels molded with dimples or holes?? I know I have read that all the holes for the expansion tank were pre-drilled and should be there on all big block 1966 corvettes, yet I have not heard as to weather there should be any evidence of dimples on the inside or outside of the passenger side pannel for the hood support?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

No holes, just small dimples for the mounting hole locations.

Wayne, there was one mold so any and all drill point locations should be there on all fender inners (IMHO).

Whether they were drilled, I don't think all of them were pre-drilled, and with a hood support you might not have needed to do that with a pointed screw as these two bolts are.


Some like the 427 heater hose clamp per the AIM were plant drilled on those affected jobs.

Let's see what other input we get. Great question.

He asked specifically about the hood support mounting. As for the rest of the holes for other items, some were and some were not pre drilled. Some were filled if they were pre drilled.

As I recall, none of the holes for the hood support reinforcement were pre-drilled in either inner fender; an apply fixture was used to drill the rivet hole and both bolt holes. The rivet hole and lower bolt hole locations had dimples in the inner fender.

I wonder if the dimples/drill starts appeared in later 66 production? Just looked at my 66 (Nov 65) and there are no dimples.
