    63 Shifter Questions

    My 63 coupe had a Hurst shifter installed in 64.
    It is a May production car with the Muncie 4spd.

    1. If I switch back to the production shifter which is available from Volunteer Vette (and others), will I need new Muncie linkage, or will the linkage from the Hurst work?

    2. Should I seek out an original (likely with chrome pitting and wear) or go with the repro, which I hear is a very nice piece?

    thanks

    Fred, I would bet that the hurst linkage is different, As the munice and the borg warner linkages are different for each transmisson in 63. I think some of the venders supply the linkage with the 63 shifter.

      Hurst parts will not interchange, many differences.

        Fred;

        If it were me, I would go with the reproduction shifter with a new set of shifter rods for your Muncie.. One less thing to worry about or restore.
