I saw this clip on TCM between movies.

So the question is this: Amongst the Corvette folks you know, does anybody remind you of the guy with the cigar in the video?
Or are you the guy with the cigar?

All I can say is the guy with the cigar has an imaginary car that seems like it's a whole lot more fun to drive. Not sure why everyone puts their car in second gear to accelerate from a dead-stop though.

My six year old nephew will get a kick out of this video

Good point, I understand now. I've never driven a 3-speed. Pulling backwards to go forward in first gear seems like a very unnatural shift pattern, but I'm sure it's just a matter of what someone is accustomed to. By the same token, up and to the left doesn't make a lot of sense for "reverse" on the 4-speed, but I'm not doing it at every traffic stop, either

I remember Gulf had a very similar commercial for their No-Nox premium gas back in the 60's.

I remember this clip from Driver Ed. In 1968 they showed this film in our Driver's Education class.
That and another film called "Your Speed goes Down with the Sun." Can't make this stuff up. Went over large with everyone laughin so hard "Beak" (the teachers obvious nickname shut down the films).

Off topic we also saw anti-smoking films Call "Finster Cigarettes".
Pretty funny and "Don't do Drugs" w/ Sonny and Cher as spokespeople. Yeah the late 60's

The guys who did the film "Stop, Look, and Listen", were Chuck Menville and Len Janson.
Menville and Janson also made the Gulf No-Nox commercial.
Another poster speculated that the Cigar Guy (Len Janson) was a Camaro owner. But while driving his sporty car, he shifts with the right arm, then rests his right arm on what I assume to be a window sill. I don't know what kind of car he could be driving.
Anybody know?

He was resting his arm on the back of the front bench seat. I used to do that too..especially when my sweetie was ridin' with me

There wasn't any digital photoshop tricks in 67 that I'm aware of. Can you imagine how long these clips took to film? scoot..click...scoot...click...scoot...click... good grief!

Shows my age, but I can remember when the stations in town would have what was called a price war and the price would be 19.9 per gal.
