German Opel radiator cap?

    German Opel radiator cap?

    I have attached a few pictures of a radiator cap which was on a friends 58 Corvette. There are no indications the car was ever an export car.
    The text translates to "firmly close" and "slowly open".
    The numbers 970 and 1000 are also present, do they relate to pressure?
    Can anyone shed light on this cap?

          Probably came off a high end German Opel, some of which had the optional small block Chevy engine,... back in the day. How it ended up on your friends Corvette would make an interesting story.

              Back in the 70's, the Opel Senator used Chevy 283 (and later, 327) engines; might have come from one of those. I remember seeing several of them in the Opel Engineering Garage when I worked at Russelsheim, and drove them home occasionally.
