    71 Rear Sway Bar

I have just finished hooking up the rear sway bar on my 71 BB Convt. The sway bar is the original one as far as I could tell. I have noticed that the length of the side part (from the sway bar bushing to the center of the bolt where it connects to the link is 5/8" longer on the passenger side than the driver side. This puts the joint of the sway bar and the link allmost touching the brake caliper. Has anyone else run into this issue? Was this a manufacturing flaw on just mine or are there a lot like this? Not sure whether to try buying another one or just live with this one.

No expert information from me with out looking at my Corvette parts book which is home. I believe that for the link I think you are talking about would have the same part number for either side.
I installed the rear sway bar on my 70 in the early 90's and removed it several years ago, do not remember my GM factory parts being different.

My '72 BB coupe rear sway bar is out of the car. If you want me to measure it let me know. Have fun!

        Lynn.
that would be great, if you can put a straight edge along the back side of the sway bar and then measure each leg that goes to the links. Maybe try and measure to the center of where the bolts go through would be good.
        thanks

Sheldon, I measured today and what you found seems correct. I stood the bar on it's back and measured off the floor. Floor to center of bushing measuers 11" on the drivers side and 11 1/2" on the pass side. I didn't notice it when I took it off and nothing seemed strange, and believe me, I found a mess when I took it all apart back there. Let me know if I can help any further. Good luck!
