68 build date vs. Holley cast date question

My 68 has vin 13273 (March 68). Calculating an estimated March build date based on end of Feb. vin of 12647 and end of March vin of 15000 puts build date around March 14. My 3x2 Holleys have a 833 (3rd week of March) cast date.

First question, it this w/in realm of reality that the Holleys are original to car?

Second question, would this qualify for a judging deduction or is it close enough to reality not to take a hit?

Pete,

Is your trim tag missing? The trim tag will have a letter followed by two numbers in the upper right of the tag. That date code will give you a much better idea of when your Corvette was built than Chevrolet's end of month numbers.

Are all three carburetors dated the same? If so that is a rather unusual situation. Usually the end carburetors have the same date, but the center is different. Just to pick nits (which we like to do here) if the 833 number is the third line stamped into the air horn of your carburetors it is an [b]assembly[/b/] date, not a casting date -- but you have decoded it correctly regardless.
