    40 years ago today

It was 40 years ago today, Feb 10, 1971, that I purchased my '69 from the original owner. I paid $3300 which was way more than I could afford but had to have it. The pictures attached were taken 1 month later in front of Fort Totten in Bayside, Queens, a few blocks from my house. I was fresh out of the Army and next week I start on Medicare. How time flies!

              Great pics, Jeff.

They must have been holding their value stable even back then.
I bought my first Corvette (A 1968 coupe) in early spring of 1975, for $3,200.

Drove it one year and sold it for $3,250. To buy a more comfortable ride, 1975 coupe.

Jeff, Whats up, No bell bottom jeans, silk shirts or a pony tail.I think I saw the side burns though., Times were surely different then. Corvettes where so out of my price range then. I was looking for a 100.00 bombers then.

Oh ya, you weren't giving the peace symbol.

                      Great looking 69, Jeff!

Who is that dorky looking dude in the picture standing next to it? Couldn't you have asked him to step aside while you took the shot?

Congratulations for keeping and maintaining your 1969 for 40 years. In 1971 I knew a 1969 Corvette 427/390 4 speed convertible owner the same color as yours that was wanting to sell his for $2500.00. He was complaining about not having a buyer. This was in Dallas, TX and his 69 was not modified and would of been a pretty good buy for his asking price.

                            Jeff,
I enjoy reading these stories of guys who bought a collectible car (ie corvette or whatever) way back when, either new or from original owner, and then somehow, despite all the ups and downs of family, work, life in general, kept it. Almost every one of us bought great cars when we were much younger, and then due to circumstances within or outside our control, sold it. Makes me sick to think of what I had and sold. I still have one car, a VW bug that I bought in the 70s from original owner's family. Many times I considered selling it, but didn't mainly because I paid nearly nothing for it, and it has not until very recently been worth something more than nearly nothing. I knew if I sold it, the money I would get would disappear before the car was out of my view from the new owner driving it away. So, I still own it.

Now, while I wish I had bought a 67 vette, instead of a 67 VW way back when, I get a great feeling of personal satisfaction just knowing I have my 43 year old VW after all these years.
I know you have that same feeling of pride and satisfaction. I salute you for buying your pride and joy, and even better, holding on to it for all these years! (ps, I also salute you for your service to our country.)
just for fun, here's my pride and joy -->
