If it is who I think it is, he's paid top dollar previously but his goal is to have a Corvette with all of the very best parts.

Some laughed a few years ago when he purchased another unique part on ebay for about 10x what this one sold for. He later sold that piece for a nice profit.

I have bought many items in the past from John, and I have to say he is one of the most honest, knowledgeable and straight-forward guys you will ever come across....In fact I spoke with him today. He mails me stuff without me paying for it ahead of time, he is just a class act.
He has some great stuff, and it's not his fault that some guys pay insane amounts of money for his items...I say good for him, after all it's a free country.
He will take parts back if you don't like them, he will send you more....anything to make you happy. I have never had a bad experience with him, and do not ever anticipate having one. Just my 2 cents....ARA

Re: New level of ridiculousness on eBay?

It's not even surprising that the cat that started this whole laughable thread admits that he paid a large sum for a part he wanted but, someone else does it and it's ridiculous, crazy, insane and many more descriptive adjectives. I know there is a reason that adults interject themselves into situations that are none of their concern. I would think jealousy is the primary culprit. On some level, it must have something to do with the fact another can afford it and you probably can't...jealousy. I suppose it could be that someone is doing something you wouldn't (couldn't) so, therefore, it's wrong. That's a good liberal position. Some folks are just so insecure they just want to publicly ridicule another to feel better about themselves. I guess that's some kind of inferiority complex.

I didn't buy that part because I didn't see it. It did have a heavily gator'd skin which does set it apart. To the person that did buy it...congratulations. You must have wanted it or you wouldn't have bought it.

You girls need to mind your own business. I believe if you did, it would make you feel better...after you get used to it.

Clem, I doubt that very much with todays market. A restoration shop would never pay that kind of bucks for a hose. Specially when it should probably be covered with orange paint anyhow.
In my business when I see a rare part on ebay that the customer needs for his FI I let him bid on it and buy it. Let me reword that as I am tired. I suggest that he buy the part so when the goofballs bid like they are at the track then it's his problem and not mine.

I've got a couple of NOS examples of these pans that were the original subject of this thread, but I don't want to sell them----even for $1,999.00.

Add 'goofballs' to the descriptive adjectives.

But for $2000 he might let them go.
