I am just trying to verify or reject some of the components on my 57 Corvette. The car has the finned drums, vented backplates, quick steer adapter, and heavy front anti-roll bar. I know that these items may not have been installed at the factory and probably have been added later for racing purposes. I would like to verify a few items that I can't seem to find specs on. I can find the specs on the standard front springs, and shocks and have confirmed that they are not stock, but I cannot find specs on the HD front springs and shocks. Also I have read that the steering wheel may be shorter with this HD setup, but I cannot find the stock length or the shorter length specs. The front end steering has tappered shims installed that appear to be like those used in 1957 but I have read that there were two different shims, one very early maybe and one later on. Can anyone provide me with the full specs on the tapered shims? I appreciate your help and look forward to your answers.

I have a pair of the 3748140 springs. I measure wire diameter of 0.632 in., just over 9 coils and a length of 11-1/2. (The springs still have the GM tags with 3748140 part number on the tags.)- Top
