    '69 headlamp washer solonoid

Hello all! I need some help with the headlamp washer solenoid. Inside the plastic housing there is double ended needle very similar to the needle in the carburetor except that it has a point on both ends and a spring. The spring goes inside the windshield washer side outlet holding the needle inboard closing off the headlamp washer port. When the solenoid is energized, the needle is pulled outboard closing off the windshield washer side and opening the headlamp side. The needle is not symmetrical in that one side is longer than the other. Does the long side point to the outside or inside? Thanks for your help.

    Jeff -

The same solenoid was used on the '69 Camaros with the hidden-headlight Rally Sport option, for their headlight washers; couple of schematics shown below for that solenoid, which indicates that the short end of the needle goes at the output end that feeds the headlight washers.
