    tourque converter bolt source

I am missing one torque converter to flexplate bolt. Interestingly, the normal Corvette part suppliers don't seem to carry these. The bolt appears to be 3/8x16 5/8" long. Complicating matters, while looking online, I ran into an article that said that GM used a 10mm bolt and the picture of the metric bolt looked like mine.

Does anyone have a source for these? Should I just go to a junkyard and start looking under late 60s early 70s automatic trans cars?

    Thanks

The bolts were last available under GM #3987930 but they're discontinued. However, I think your local GM dealer should be able to locate some of these in dealer stock. A transmission shop should be able to supply equivalent bolts.

Actually, I don't think there is anything really special about these bolts. They are size-wise exactly as you describe and are GM 300-M material grade (SAE grade 8).

No metric bolt was used for 1969 applications. I believe that the first use of metric bolts for the flex-plate-to-converter was about 1979.
