I would like to know if my L48 1980 4 speed manual coupe with A/C, should have a Carburetor Idle Control Solenoid?

I'm not sure if they only came fitted to automatic transmission models.

If it should have one does anyone know where I would best purchase one? Paragon have one that looks authentic #12533, but is it?

According to the NCRS 80-82 manual, Idle control solenoids were equipped on Corvettes with A/C and automatic transmission. My 78 automatic vette has the idle solenoid but its a silver cad or zinc finish not the gold shown on the Paragon part. This part is probably a service replacement and intended for all applications.

I was wondering if I was reading the Technical Manual correctly as my 4 speed car has the wire there as if one should be fitted. Also I have noticed that when the A/C cuts in the engine speed does drop down some.

Could it be that the 4 speed car may have come from the factory with one fitted? or is the wire in place on the loom anyway as they used the same wiring loom for automatic and manual cars?
