Harry, you're right, the water under the bridge certainly varies from manual to manual, but the offset staple location on the original is a dead giveaway.

I don't have a repro, or I'd do it. Anyone got a side by side pic of these differences ? Would be great for people that are hunting originals !

Michael; I just checked my original and the one from the NCRS. Yes the staples are in a different location on the original(especially the bottom one). Is that the
typical location of the location for the originals??

Hi Mike,

I just ordered a manual for my March 68 form http://rothautobooks.com/

My manual was MIA when I bought the car and I needed to locate a 2nd edition (Jan) 72 page printing. Roth had a perfect original-fantastic condition and just what i needed. Prices were very reasonable!! You may want to check him out and see if he has an orig for you.

Bill, I don't know if that odd staple location is typical, but I'd guess that since we both have it, it probably was normal.

Tom, I tried to take some pics of the quality differences, but they are hard to see in photos in the availabe light. I'll try again when we get some sun here in Michigan (could be April)

Patrick, I'll check him out, his web site is not functioning, so I'll give him a call. Now that I know mine is original, though, I can probably live with the stains.

Be careful what you buy from a paper dealer that deals in mainly new books. They typically are in the volume business.
Not to beat this to death but there are 3 possibilities of most vintage Corvette Owner's manuals
1. Originals from St. Louis.
2. Re-issues printed by Helm who was the OEM supplier. Many of these were printed a year or two after the originals and were ordered by Chevrolet for parts department sales. Many of those have Corvette News cards. Photo quality and details are substandard.
3. Reproductions printed by anyone at any time along the way.

A fairly large percentage of OM's sold today are of the #2 variety. They are fine but don't pay to much for them.

In it, I posted a picture of both original and repro owners manuals. However, when I try to repost that picture again, I get the message that the picture has already been posted. Is there a way to copy a picture that I previously posted to this current thread?

To be clear, the picture on the top is the known original............ correct ?

Right, the one on the top is the original. Note how the repro is cropped tighter than the original, you can clearly see it in the water under the bridge and the rear bumper of the coupe.

My original says "First Edition" on the contents page. The "old" reproduction says "Second Edition" on the contents page. The "new" repro says nothing about an edition.
