    1970 Bolt Headmarkings

Having a very hard time finding info on correct bolts in the 1970 manual. Can anyone tell me the correct head marking on the intake bolts for a 454? Any help would be appreciated.

    Nancy,

you would have to give each application you are interested in and then you can get an answer as to the configuration and several different possible headmarkings that are known to be correct.

Sorry, just reread and saw you asked for intake bolts. 70 454 would have a recessed flanged hex head and 1 of several headmarkings. A, M, EWF are some known headmarkings CH was also started to be used in 70. Also a A flat head with a built in flange.

Thank you so much for the info, and I will make a list and post.

        Nancy,

On my 71 LS5, the intake bolts have built in shoulders except the ones that secure the engine lift brackets which have no flange.

          Nancy,

On my early '70 LS5, there are two styles of bolts shown in the photos. A third style is used for the engine hoist bracket, similiar to the '71 shown above.

That is "generally" what I see.
One type for the bracket, one type for the spark plug wire supports, and then all the rest are the 3rd type.

Here's the plug wire support bolt.
