We are planning on spending the night in rapid city on the road tour July 15th. Anyone know of a deal on motels close to I 90?

Normally I would not have believed it for a HoJo, but I stayed at this excellent Howard Johnson's in Rapid City this past July:

If you're not set on Rapid City, try the Alpine Inn www.alpineinnhillcity.com/ (133 Main Street, Hill City, SD 57745 (605) 574-2749) in the heart of the Black Hills. I don't recall the exact distance but probably about an hr west of Rapid City. It is a great old restored hotel with a very good and reasonably priced restaurant. Paid approx $75/night last May.

The Black Hills are a great Summer destination. Low motel prices will not yield a great motel in most instances. 100 bucks. Spearfish, nearby has a nice Vette show in July about 3rd wk. Hill City has a great Restaurant Alpine I think. The hills are really vette cruzing territory all blacktop roads and in good condition!
