Ralph, about 10 years ago I bought a 69 coupe that was painted maroon with saddle interior. The car had been repainted from original yellow (trim tag indicated Daytona Yellow with Saddle interior). I knew that combination was not available in 69, so I got much of the tank sticker off and it was a COPO, there was a number in the COPO box. That is why the car was a COPO, a deviation in interior color from standard with Daytona Yellow. Base engine car, fully loaded, CA dealer. Best panel fit of any C3 I have ever seen. Nobody wanted to believe me that it was a COPO. Contrary to what some may think, that combo DID trigger a COPO.

That tank sticker is interesting to me. I have a 10/3/68 build date and my tank sticker does not show the head restraints as a option. This one does. I have never got a definitive answer as to were all 69's equipped with head restraints, including all pre 1/1/69 builds. Most will say yes, but this makes me wonder. Federal mandates went into effect 1/1/69 and the became standard.

The owner is the original, and a Doctor friend of BOB WINGATE. They still visit often. Car is in Lake Arrowhead, California. I have to call Bob and see if it is still for sale, or if children have taken it. Last I heard the siblings were all fighting over it. Send me a PM please

I only paid $ 5,600.00 for it. All new Corvettes in the 50's & 60"s were bought by 16-25 year old kids. I paid for half of it with money from my part time job and my mother gave me the other half, Paid cash for it.

                          Ralph,
Still that was a lot of $$$$$$ back then. I was only in 8th grade in 69. I just wish I would have caught the corvette bug back in the 70's when I was getting into cars. My father had a body shop so I was always around cars and worked on so many. Just not corvettes. I didn't catch the bug until too late in 2000.
