    Randy;

    Your idea is fine for something like pot metal or diecast, as I have done it on a windshield wiper motor myself. But, I wonder if it is adequate for use with fiberglass. Using wire is also great for something that conducts electricity, like a ground wire connection that is stripped.

      I have previously used a piece of approx 3/16" rubber under the dash and screwed the self tapper directly into it its held well.... its also a useful technique for curing rattles elsewhere... but its not the same as fixing the fiberglass correctly... merely a quick and easy route...

        Great idea, that works. The wire I used was the thin gauge like you hang picture frames with. Using the thin gauge you can wrap it into the screw threads. Then hide the end of it underneath the metal frame of resistor.

        Whichever methods you decide to try start out with the less invasive ones. In case you ever want to get it judged you don't want anything that will be hard to "cover up".

          Wrap screw with a small strip of aluminum foil. Works better than tape, which gets woosey from the engine compartment heat, and looks silver like the screw.
