I've noticed this dealer mentioned a few times recently. Scanning some old 35mm slides and found a few taken about Oct 20th 1973, when the '74's had arrived. I notice on the window sticker of one car that the dealer number is 20-308, and not 20-307 as mentioned in the 1967 timeframe. Would this be due to corporate reorganization ?

Wayne, I remember talking with Frank Milne (GM for Harry Mann and later the owner) who told me that they were the only dealership in SoCal that had two mechanics assigned to do nothing but Fuel Injection.- Top

When I wrecked my 57 in 1959 Mann was the only Chevy dealer in LA that could fix the fiberglass or so I was told to that is where it went. The damage was to the front end and the tow operator must have known something about repairing because he pick up every littel piece and said they would need them to piece them back togather. They did a great job and you could not see the repair My current 1971 LT-1 was delivered by Harry Mann. PS the 1957 was delivered by Bell Chevrolet in Bell, CA.- Top

That's what it looked like. Wasn't really a looker like Don Steves in Whittier, Clippinger in West Covina or Felix Chevrolet on Figueroa next to USC, but it was the place. The indoor showroom was tiny and not really tidy. A not too nice neighborhood on Crenshaw Blvd. Ordered my 1973 coupe from the Fleet Sales Manager, Bill Campbell in late 1972. Waited an agonizing 3 1/2 months with constant calling to check where it was. What a pest!!
When it arrived, I have to say I was less than impressed with the finish on the paint (Silver) and the areas where the bonding along the fenders were. After all, I paid a whopping $6,950 out the door with the Fleet discount!! After a couple of months of griping about the paint, the San Francisco Customer Support office flew down to inspect the car at Mann, and the rep told the Service Manager "paint the car for the kid". So they did, and it still looked good over 20 years later when I regrettably sold it with 78,000 mi on it. Couldn't carry around kids.- Top

Now I have a picture of the place to go along with everything else I have on Mann from my 72. I am the second owner, and I found out it was purchased new from Mann when the seller handed me the original Purchase order.
Here is what an Original Purchase Order from Mann looked like in 11/71.

Thanks, Wayne for posting the pics.
For those of you who have a Facebook account, there is a very interesting Facebook page with lots of old photos.
The "page" on Facebook (actually called a "wall"), is entitled:
Corvette @ Harry Mann Chevrolet.
The wall was created by Mimi Milne. The daughter of Frank Milne ......the former General manager and later the owner. Mimi stated that Frank Milne passed on in 2008.
The photos on the wall have been declared in the public domain, by Mimi Milne.

Re: Harry Mann Chev (Los Angeles) a few 1974 pics
It was in a Corvette News. Not an original engine but nice and what we called restored back then. 'And a garage floor from an old bowling alley. Beautiful. Since '57 waffle pattern seat upholstery wasn't available in the early 70's Frank told me to just use the headliner from my hardtop like he did---I didn't. He led me to a few parts sources back then, like Engine House #9.

Re: Harry Mann Chev (Los Angeles) a few 1974 pics
Great old photos! Thanks for posting.
After seeing some of the photos I had two questions:
What was the intersection streets of Crenshaw and what was the dealership located? What city?
After looking at the row of '74 Corvettes, I noticed the window stickers on the DRIVER'S side window? I always thought and I think I remember my new '76 the window sticker was on the Passenger's side window.
Does anyone know which side the window stickers were on the early 70's Corvettes?
Thanks.Peter Gregory # 4157

Pretty cool picture Jim of the Chevrolet storefront.
It looks like '58 Chevrolets in the front showroom with a convertible next to the sidewalk.Peter Gregory # 4157
