1965 Brakes
A friend of mine told me he remembers a 65 coupe in the late sixties with disc brakes on the front, and drums on the rear. I never heard of this. I know there was a option where you could delete the disc brakes and have all drum brakes in 1965. Is this correct? Has anyone ever seen a 65 Vette half disc and half drum? Thanks for any info. Hi Larry,
Your memory is correct - there was a disk brake delete option in 1965 (J61 - Drum Brakes), the first year disk brakes were offered and the last year drum brakes were available. 316 buyers opted for it, stayed with drum brakes (all around), and saved $64.50 (shown as a credit on the invoice).
