correct castings for 66 brake calipers?

I have the 4th edition of the 66 JG which apparently has the wrong casting numbers for original brake calipers. Can anyone tell me the correct casting numbers for the 66 with production sequence number of 124392?

I have two calipers that I believe are original. Both calipers have the following casting numbers:
546902 and 5465905. I think these may have both been on the rear wheels, but the JG says that the left rear caliper was different from the right rear caliper. ??

    Thanks,

    - Ryan

I still have one of the original front brake calipers taken off my 1966 Corvette (Feb. 1966) many years ago (about 1980). The casting numbers are as follows:
    outer, "5465952" and "341" (341st day of 1965?)
    inner, "5465954" and "254" (254th day of 1965?)
I believe this to be the 1st design caliper used on 1965-early 1967 Corvettes.

I believe the casting numbers on the rear calipers are "5465905" (outer) and "5465902" (inner).

I agree. These are the casting numbers for the 1st design calipers used from 1965-E1967.

Correct castings for 66 brake calipers?

        Ryan,

David has posted the correct casting numbers. As best I can remember, this was a case where the 2nd of the '66 TIM&JG had the correct casting numbers, the 3rd and 4th editions had the incorrect numbers, and now the newest edition again has the correct numbers. Odd how these things happen...

        Gary

Re: correct castings for 66 brake calipers?

          Gentlemen,

Thanks for your replies that clarified the part numbers. I must have two rear calipers. Now, I need to find me two front calipers with the 5465952/5465954.

I hope you can help with my two follow-up questions:

          1) I cannot find a date code on the rear calipers. Were they only on the front?

          2) What would be an appropriate date code for front calipers if the VIN was 124392 production sequence?

            Ryan,

Dave provided a real world example right in this 66 time frame. If 341 was the date code, and there are 365 days in the year, and he has a Feb car, you are looking at 2 to 3 months.

Your 66 is late, June/ July - you know that from the trim tag and thus an April May caliper should be good.

Other thing to do is poll other cars, if they have the originals, hard to say as the norm 30 - 35 years ago (as bad as these things were for leaks, etc) was to send them away for a set of ss inserted rebuilds, adn the you never know what you are getting as far as casting numbers and date codes.

My 66 built on March 14th vin number 16400 has it's original 1st design calipers and match the numbers given in earlier posts. The dates are as follow:19,30, 30,13, 31,3, 9,9.
