1970 Front Grille Restoration

I am seeking some advice as to where some of you have sent the front grilles to be restored.

Or.........has anyone done this on their own? I have seen some great photos and documentation for restoration details for particular part.

What exactly do you want to restore? Do you want to rechrome and repaint the grilles, or just repaint the egg crate portion? I masked and painted my egg crates on my grilles myself. It was time consuming, but turned out looking great. The chrome portion was in good enough shape that I did not have to rechrome.

I need to rechrome. I also need some repair to one of them. While that is no big deal, I was just curious about someone's experience / advice.\

I did not have to do any repair or rechrome on mine, so I can't help there. Try a search of the archives here and I am sure it will turn up some good information.

Tim - Richard Fortier, who advertises in the Driveline, repaired and restored an extra pair for me and did an outstanding job. He welded a couple of cracks on one, added studs to another, and rechromed and repainted both. Below is a pic of one of them.

It was not cheap, but a first class job. Give him a call, he's a really nice guy who'll be happy to discuss what he can do for you. Good luck.
