    David,

The breather tube on my 67 has the vertical extension with a hook tab as you mentioned in a previous post. I assume it's the 3902402 GM part, and believe it is the original to this car..

Forgot to feel for the spot welds but I will check later today.

      Dave -

The vertical extension with the "hook" on it is the rear anchorage point for the inboard Powerglide kickdown linkage spring; see the '67 A.I.M., Section M35, sheet A9, illustration at the top right corner of the page, and note where the inboard spring (D) is anchored at the rear. The tube wasn't unique to Powerglide - it was used on both manuals and automatics.

        John,

Thanks for enlightening me. I would have never thought to look in the automatic transmission section of the 1967 AIM as most all the cars that I have ever owned starting in 1965 have had manual transmissions. I guess that I have to start looking outside the box.

The auto-trans to carb linkage drawing (UPC M35 Sheet A9) in the 1967 AIM clearly shows using the 3902402 tube and this drawing is dated 5-23-66, well before the beginning of the 1967 production. Based on this I would say that PROPERLY all 67 Corvettes w/300 HP engines used the 3902402 tube and not the 3887158 tube. I also think that it is possible that very late 1966 Corvettes may have been issued the 3902402 tube. This agrees with Tim's 67 Corvette with Sept. 23, 1966, build date with the 3902402 tube as shown in his photo. Apparently the change from the 3887158 tube to the 3902402 tube was not made on UPC 6, sheet C#, in the 1967 AIM.
