    1967 Vinyl Hard top

I recently purchased a car with the above hard top, I'm new to the 67's, the question I have is once I got it home and reviewed the top, the head liner is black, my car int. is green, also I did not see on the car the pin holes on the rear deck nor on the top, just the two latches, I cannot seem to locate the numbers in the lower left and upper right, is there any way this could be a replacement after market top?, most likely the car was not born with a hard top, it is a very early build date of 7-Nov-66, any idea's on exactly what I have here, the top is in perfect condition, along with the plexi glass

    Thanks

If you don't have the holes in the deck lid there is no way it came with a hard top. No place to put the threaded hangers that would bolt to the deck.

      Thanks Ken,

Is it possibile I have an aftermarket hard top? I have never heard of them before, that would explain the missing pins and the date codes on the plexi glass

Let me know what you think

      Thanks

I have never heard of a aftermarket hard top. The threaded pins could have been cut off or taken out. Some replacement don't have date codes.

The pins you are talking about are removable bolts. Check the bottom of the top for signs of holders for the bolts. They slide into place. Also, you haven't mentioned whether the top has the side brackets, or whether the sides of the car have holes for those bolts. If you don't have those, it absolutely wasn't a hard top car.

The bolt holes are in deed in the body by both rear doors, I could tell when I purchased the car that it at one time had the dredded luggage rack, sine had been removed and filled before re piant, I have not looked really close at the rear deck lid to see if these were patched, my guess is they were not, and someone down the road purchased a hard top and removed the rear pins just as you have stated, I was wondering that my car was built roughly one week after the strike hence the low production #'s for Oct, perhaps these may have just been left out, it was built on a Tuesday if that matters, I know how production line assembly goes, if the parts were missing, they could have just left them out to keep the line going.

              Thanks

Corvette owners swap parts, I know of a person that swapped the original convertible top their 1968 Corvette came with when they bought it new with someone later that had a 69 Corvette that came with a hardtop.

                    Steve,
Did the previous owner provide any documentation or had they noted the existence of the "Tank sticker"?
If it came from the factory, it would be on the document.

Either way, having that top as a part of your car today is a nice piece to have.

No I dropped the tank back in Nov, no sticker, it was a correct replacement GM gas tank, all of the bones are there and correct, just a few items such as the radiator hoses and clamps, coil is wrong #, and the plug wires, it has a Delco replacment cap, but all just little bolt on things, I did find the spare was a orig. Goodyear red line, that has never been on the ground, I have sent away for the dealer info from NCRS, waiting to see that, kinda miss not having the tank sticker, but the car can't help that

                      Thanks
