I want to acknowledge and thank NCRS member Gary Beaupre. In the Fall 2009 issue of The Restorer, Gary and Lee Brock wrote an article, "Replacing Retainer Cups in a C2/C3 Rear Leaf Spring," in which Gary offered to make the tool he developed for swaging the cups into place available on a loan basis for a nominal fee to cover the cost of postage and depreciation. In the midst of a '65 restoration project, I remembered the article and e-mailed Gary to ask if the tool were available. Gary replied to my inquiry almost immediately, and sent the tool before he even got my payment -- in fact, the tool arrived in my mailbox the same day Gary received my check. The tool works great, and makes for a very nice, professional installation of the retainer cups in the rear spring and trailing arms. Perhaps I've just grown accustomed to the lack of friendly "service" in transactions anymore, but I was amazed and impressed by the way Gary handled this. Then again, it's just one more example of the way NCRSers are so willing to help others, so perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised. Thanks again, Gary! I hope I can return the courtesy someday.

Re: A Public Thank You
I contacted Gary about my 72 that I had no round key for. He had me send him my glove box lock and he made me a key that fit it and the alarm switch. He also tiped me off to an ebay auction for a spare tire lock that I bought and he keyed the same. He could have sold the lock for more than I payed on the auction. It was nice for someone to take an interest in a problem and enjoy solving the problem. He even refunded some of what I sent him since based on the key code for the GB he didn't have to make as many possible keys as he may have. Super nice guy.- Top
