    Thanks and Take Care.

I've been a member since 1980 or so, but the time has come to call it quits. Have not had a vette in several years now, so not much use keeping up my membership. Lots of fun through the years, but not anymore. Used to go to Bloomington every year and a couple of Super Chevy shows too. Got Blooming Gold on my 69 in 1984, and won Super Chevy Corvette class at INDY in 1985. I remember lots of wild times at the Holiday Inn at Bloomington, how about you Mike? Still got those 63 hood alinement blocks I sold you in the parking lot? Bought and sold a few cars in that parking lot and across the street. Lots of good times and good people, long before it all got complicated and expensive. Wish you well. Take care, play nice, and drive carefull.

    Re: Thanks and Take Care.

    Hi Roger,
As a relatively new member, I'm curious as to your perspective on how the hobby has changed since your active years.
I was a "car guy" in high school and first years of college, owned Camaros and Corvettes, hot rodded, modified and painted them in my garage. Got away from it as career and family took priority. Now I'm back, but as a young guy the car hobby as I knew it involved doing things on the cheap with what you had available.
The Corvette hobby that I have come back to certainly seems like a very different animal. I've suspected I was just young and ignorant and poor in those early years, but maybe everyone was more like that then (for me "then" was the mid 70's to early '80s).
    What do you think?

    Fred

Back in the 60's we wanted to soup them up now we want to go back to strictly stock. If you don't want it judged, do whatever you want to it and drive it like you stole it! Most of all just enjoy it and talk to every car guy that will listen. Save the wave!

            Hi Roger,
            Good Luck!!!!
I'm not sure which is worse.... the "complicated" or the "expensive"?
            Regards,
            Alan

In 1971 I wanted black rims so I painted them in the driveway with a 99 cent spray bomb... and was happy.

              GOOD LUCK ROGER
I hate to see the old timers go. We were there when it was a hobby more than a business. It seems like the money took the fun out of it. Not many old Corvettes are driven to shows anymore. It was fun at the Holiday Inn. Remember the burnouts & setting the fire alarm off from the tire smoke. All hell broke loose then. The wet tee shirt contest John Danos & I started. I remember one guy chained his C-1 to a lite pole every year to keep it from getting stolen. Bloomington in the 80'S was like being 20 in 1964 with a fast car. I wouldn't trade that for any amount of money.
I wish the younger members could see that in the day it was all about having fun more than how high of a top flight you got. Hear's to the good old days.

hope for some change (back to our traditional values) for my grandkids sake. They might be collecting rickshaws one day.
                Best Wishes.

For the relatively low cost of membership in NCRS, I would not give it up.
