According to the judging manual for '65 it states that the delco Voltage regulator is mounted on the inner fender skirt. I've looked at several photos and all seem to be mounted there. My L84 3/65 build car has the regulator mounted on the right hand core support as the '64 model. I even looked at the '64 judging guide that I have (earlier version) and the description was exactly as the way mine is mounted. I just ordered a regulator from John Pirkle and I wanted to get opinions on this before Installation. The car has been judged 2x previous to my ownership; top flight both times (regionals) and didn't get any deductions or comments about the mounting. So, those of you in the know. Could this car have come off the line in this configuration? Would you change it to the fender skirt mounting (thereby leaving 3 holes in the core support)??? Thanks

Re: 65 voltage regulator mounting
Interesting, but there is one small issue here. I have the original window sticker and the car wasn't delivered with transitor ignition. Could the car have been built with a fuel injection core support with TI instead of the "regular" one? If so then would the line workers have installed the voltage regulator there (core support) or on the fender skirt?- Top

Re: 65 voltage regulator mounting
Blake, Are there existing mounting holes in the fender skirt? Will the original wiring harness stretch from the core support mount to the fender skirt mount and look factory installed? Just a couple of considerations.- Top

Re: 65 voltage regulator mounting
Blake. I know just what Wayne is talking about. He's a very knowedgeable '65 guy.
Why don't you post a photo of the front pass side corner of your engine compartment? I'd like to see it. From my experience with my two '65's--one an L78 car and the other an L79 car, one (the L78 car) had the volt reg mounted on the core support and the other (the L79 car) on the inner fender. Look at the inner fender just to the right of the core support as Stephen has suggested. Can you see three holes or does there appear to be some sloppy globs forced through the inner fender to fill the three holes?

Re: 65 voltage regulator mounting
Wayne,
This is an old post but maybe you will get this reply. Trying to determine the exact location for the electronic voltage regulator on a 1965 Fuelie w/TI. According to NCRS it was mounted on the left(facing engine ) on the radiator core support. With the Fuel large air duct was it below the duct on the radiator shroud? Any photos would be helpful.
Thanks
